About location

This service shows how far away each restaurant is. Here is how it decides where to measure from.

Effective date: 2026-08-21 ・ Last revised: 2026-08-22

The short version

  • Your location is used only when you press “Use my location” and allow it.
  • The service works fully without it.
  • If you arrived from a QR code, distances are measured from the venue where that code is installed — not from a measurement of where you are.
  • Your precise location is not stored as usage data.

If you arrived from a QR code

Each QR code — at an accommodation, a ropeway station, tourist information, the bus terminal, or a member restaurant — has its placement registered in advance. Arriving through one uses that registered position as the starting point for distances.

That is not your GPS location. We do not read your device’s position, which is also why scanning a QR code never asks you for location permission.

The place being used as the starting point is named at the top of the list, as “Distance from …”. If you have moved on from there, pressing “Use my location” switches to measuring from where you actually are.

If you use your location

Pressing “Use my location” makes your browser ask for permission. Allowing it switches distances to being measured from your device’s current position.

The coordinates are used only inside your browser, to calculate those distances. They are not sent to our servers, so no record of where you were is created.

What does appear in usage records is only whether location was requested, allowed or refused. The coordinates themselves are not part of it.

If using the location feature changes which part of the map is shown, the requests for the map data covering that area go to the map data provider. Your precise GPS coordinates themselves are not sent to the provider.

Which one wins

  1. Your device location, if you have explicitly allowed it
  2. The registered position of the QR placement you arrived from
  3. Neither — in which case distances are simply not shown, and the list and map work as normal

So the moment you allow your location, it takes over from the QR placement as the starting point.

Withdrawing permission

Location permission is managed by your browser and operating system; this service has no separate setting of its own. To withdraw it, change the site settings in your browser or the settings on your device.

About the map

The map is drawn using an outside map data provider. Displaying it causes requests for the map data covering the area you are viewing. See the External Transmission page for details.
